In one of my previous guides I have already presented you the best Christmas markets of Germany. Below I will give you some info relating to the best Christmas markets of Berlin. The German capital city hosts numerous such markets around the biggest feast of the year, Christmas. If you are looking for the authentic European Christmas markets, visit Berlin from the end of November until the end of December.

There are about 60 fantastic Christmas markets in the city which attract thousands of visitors in this period. Visiting a Christmas market in Berlin is the best way to experience the charm of “Winter Magic”. With seasonal goodies and fantastic gifts, the markets offer some excellent things to buy around Christmas.

Spandau Christmas Market

The largest Christmas market of Berlin is the one held in Spandau Old Town. Spandau Christmas Market presents about 250 stalls during weekdays and about 400 on weekends. It is an incomparable market which offers numerous gifts and goodies to purchase. Besides, it offers several options for entertainment, like the Christmas rock concert on Fridays.

Charlottenburg Castle Christmas Market

The Charlottenburg Castle Christmas Market is considered to be one of the most popular of its kind in Berlin. The market lasts for 35 days during which the castle and its park turn into a large ensemble of Christmas lights and smells. It presents about 150 vendors from all over country and from abroad. Different arts and crafts, also ancient handicrafts and seasonal goodies can be purchased.

Potsdamer Platz Christmas Market

Another extremely popular market is the one held on Potsdamer Platz. The Christmas market also takes place inside the Sony Centre. Potsdamer Platz Christmas Market is characterized by lots of lights, Christmas songs, handicrafts and delicacies which ensure a unique seasonal atmosphere. There is also an ice rink here dedicated to those willing to have fun while skating.

Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church Christmas Market

Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church Christmas Market offers a large number of about 170 stands, all of them selling mulled wine, hot cocoa, grilled sausages, glazed fruit, punch, roasted almonds and excellent gifts and Christmas decorations. The 20 m tall Christmas tree gives even more attractiveness to this fantastic market.  

Gendarmenmarkt Christmas Market

The Gendarmenmarkt Christmas Market is held on one of the city’s most beautiful squares. Fantastic handicrafts are offered for sale. Dance groups, fire artists, choirs, jugglers and even Gospel ensembles raise the Christmas feeling. Stonemasons and wood carvers also present their works. The market is with no doubt one of the best of its kind in Berlin.
