There are numerous outstanding Christmas markets held in cities and towns all around the country. Most of them start in the last week of November and end in the last week of December. Berlin Christmas Markets

There are numerous fantastic Christmas markets in the German capital city. If you want to experience the magic of Christmas, you should visit Berlin. Some of the most important markets in the city are the following: the Charlottenburg Christmas Market, Alexanderplatz Christmas Market, the one at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and so on. Most of the Christmas markets are open every day from morning until the evening hours. Have a hot cocoa, mulled wine or roasted almonds, buy fantastic handmade toys or Christmas tree ornaments and enjoy the Christmas songs.

Cologne Christmas Markets

Considered to be some of the best European Christmas markets, the four markets in Cologne attract a huge number of visitors each year. The most spectacular is considered the “Am Dom” market which takes place in front of the famous Cologne Cathedral. Visiting this Christmas market is with no doubt an unforgettable experience. With more than 150 stalls, the market is extremely popular among visitors who can purchase beautiful Christmas tree ornaments, handmade candles, ceramics and others. There are on offer boiled sweets, gingerbread and cotton candy.

Munich Christmas Market

The fantastic Christmas Market of Munich takes place on the Marienplatz. It is a magnificent market which offers thousands of traditional gifts and seasonal goodies. You can buy fantastic presents for Christmas, such as jewelries, hand-carved Christmas tree ornaments and decorations. The Christmas market is open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 until 20:30, on Saturdays from 9:00 until 20:30 and on Sundays from 10:00 to 19:30. (December 2012)

Nuremberg Christmas Market

It is considered one of the most popular and most spectacular Christmas markets of Europe. The Nuremberg Christmas Market includes about 200 stalls and takes place in front of the Frauenkirche. The deluge of the fantastic gifts and goodies attract a large number of visitors each year. You can buy outstanding presents for your loved ones: beautiful toys, candles, Christmas tree ornaments and decorations, different crafts and handmade objects. The market can be visited from Monday to Thursday from 9:30 until 20:00, on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30 to 22:00 and on Sundays from 10:30 to 20:00. (December 2012)
