Perhaps the most significant area and most popular destination of Germany is the state of Bavaria. Occupying about 20% of the country, it is the largest state. Bavaria is an excellent tourist destination, being home to some amazing visitor attractions and historic cities. Some of the most beautiful cities of Germany can be found here, including Munich, Nuremberg, Würzburg, Regensburg and so on.

As for the visitor attractions of the area, the most famous ones are: the Neuschwanstein Castle, the astonishing Zugspitze, the Linderhof Palace and others. Munich

One of the most beautiful and most popular cities of Germany, Munich is an excellent tourist destination within the state of Bavaria. Munich has innumerable sites to visit, ranging from museums to churches and other landmarks, but the most prominent attraction of the city is the yearly event named Oktoberfest. It is a world famous festival which attracts millions of visitors during its two weeks in every October.

Regensburg

Another scenic city of Bavaria is the wonderful Regensburg. Situated at the confluence of the Regen River and the grandiose Danube, the city is very popular among tourists. The medieval city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site today. Some of the main sites of the city are: the Regensburg Cathedral, its medieval stone bridge, numerous churches, the botanical garden and so on.  

The Neuschwanstein Castle

One of the most visited castles in the country, the breathtaking Neuschwanstein Castle is a top site of Bavaria. The castle is also renowned in Europe. It is located near the town of Fussen. The name of the castle literally means “New Swan Castle”. It resembles to a fairytale castle. Some rooms of it were inspired by the world famous composer, Richard Wagner. The Zugspitze

The famous Zugspitze is the highest mountain peak of Germany. It is very popular among tourists, nature-lovers and climbers. The Zugspitze gets very crowded during winter season, as thousands of skiers and snowboarders choose this destination. As for the summer months, the mountain attracts innumerable nature-lovers and climbers. If you also love nature, you should also head towards the Zugspitze.

The Linderhof Palace

Another extremely popular cultural sight of Bavaria and even of Germany is the breathtaking Linderfhof Palace. Built by King Ludwig II, the castle is a popular tourist attraction. It contains numerous wonderful rooms, including the Hall of Mirrors, the Audience Chamber, the Bedchamber and so on. The park surrounding the palace is also extremely attractive. It is absolutely a worth visiting sight of southwest Bavaria.
